Give Me All The Red, White, & Blue!
July 3, 2025
ALL OF IT! The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! I love what it represents! (How about some independence? Yes, please!) I love the decorations. I love the patriotic T-Shirts/apparel. I love the fireworks (watching not shooting). I love the food. I love that people are off work……and this year, it’s on Friday which just makes it more festive feeling to me! If you do have to work the holiday, wear your red, white, and blue to work and celebrate when you get off! I’ve worked a lot of retail and didn’t always have a lot of days off…..especially in a row. I loved seeing customers come in wearing their patriotic best! Especially the older people….. seems like they would go all out! Wait. I just put two and two together. I maybe getting old! 😳
The flag! THE red, white, and blue! There is nothing better than a crisp flag against a blue sky! I’m going to take this opportunity to tell you…. Don’t let your flag get “ratty”! I know it’s hard. Sometimes, it happens before you know it. It fades and gets tattered. Sometimes, I let mine go too long before I replace it. I try to keep my flag looking good though!
History is not my strong point but I was reading that there has been some “debate” about when we would celebrate the anniversary of the adoption/signing of the Declaration of Independence. Apparently, July 2, 1776 was the day the delegates voted in favor of seeking independence. Then….on the 4th, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. Only 2 delegates actually signed that day…… Charles Thompson and John Hancock. Finally…..The Declaration of Independence with the 56 signatures was signed on August 2. Anyway, this tells me we can celebrate longer!
No matter what your political views, I hope you celebrate the fact that we live in a GREAT country! We are truly spoiled people. A lot of people have fought for this country. My mom’s dad gave his life in WW II. My son-in-law serves in the United States Air Force (and dragged my daughter-my baby-across the United States (literally) to live on the Air Force base instead of in Hartselle with me….. not that I’m salty about it….just kidding…. I’m seriously very proud of both of them).
Enjoy the holiday, friends! I hope you get chill bumps when you see a crisp flag against a blue sky and if you are one of those losers that kneel during the National Anthem, there is the door. You can see yourself out.
